Wu Brings Da Ruckus to Brisbane.

On Friday the 26th of February, the Wu-Tang Clan took over Riverstage in Brisbane’s Botanical Gardens. RZA, GZA, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa and DJ Mathematics all hit the stage at 8:30pm.

RZA came out first, directing the crowd with two instructions. First he said, “Whatever energy we receive, we will give back that same energy”, and the second was, “If you’re not having a good time, you are wasting your time”. Then he introduced the crowd to the rest of the Wu members starting with Ghostface Killah, and the show began.

Despite the notable absence of Method Man, the group went through their incredible repertoire of classic hits like CREAM, Protect Your Neck, Ice Cream, Tearz and more. Half way through the show, RZA paid homage to those artists that have sadly passed way by playing snippets of songs we all knew, starting with Kurt Cobain and ending of course with Wu-Tangs own ODB.

DJ Mathematics reminded us of what a real DJ is with a short demonstration of scratching and beat-juggling; taking off his shoes in the middle of it. After 90 minutes on stage the night ended with one of Wu’s biggest hits Gravel Pit.

It was an incredible night, one I won’t soon forget… Thank you Wu-Tang Clan!!!
